August – November 2008

FireFan the Flame is a unique opportunity for personal renewal and professional development. The program would suit pastoral associates, members of leadership teams, chaplains, campus ministers, teachers, others engaged in ministry and anyone wishing to renew and deepen their faith.

What will I experience? Input, reflection and discussion on the following:

  • Companioning your soul
Learning to listen to the whispers and hints of our truest self in God
  • Life to the Full
A glimpse into the pastoral ministry of Jesus – source, practice, cost – and the difference it will mean in the life of a Christian minister
  • How at this time in my life do I understand conversion?
What it means to let the veils fall so we can see more clearly
  • From Toxic to Sacred Woundedness
What the Jesus story invites us to do with our pain and joy for the sake of transformation
  • Why do I do what I’m doing? Why do I bother? Taking another look at ministry
Making sense of contemporary ministry in non-clichéd language
  • Choosing what is good and life-giving … the delicate art of discernment
Coming to a more mature appreciation of what it means “to do God’s will”
  • The making holy of beginnings and endings (one day workshop) (15 November)
How ritual can be an invaluable aid to prayer in times of transition, both big and small
  • Retreat (16 November)
Allowing God to wash over you at the conclusion of the renewal

Members of our team bring a range of experiences, skills and training in ministry, spirituality, counselling, psychology, theology, social justice and spiritual direction:
